Peer Support Specialist
The Las Vegas Rescue Mission is looking for a Peer Support Specialist (PSS) to join our recovery team. We are a private, faith-based organization that serves our community by offering a safe place for adult men and women to break the cycle of homelessness and/or addiction.
The Peer Support Specialist will be responsible for advocating, supporting, and linking residents to all appropriate communities’ recovery and healthy living. The PSS will be working within the Las Vegas Rescue Missions Lighthouse Recovery Program. Lighthouse Recovery is a Low-Level Residential Adult Treatment program with Medication Assisted Treatment component. This position directly reports to the Recovery Program Supervisor.
Responsibilities and Requirements
Assist with the coordination of clients’ intake, assessment, and engagement into the program.
Identify, coordinate and implement recreational activities and sports to complete with clients
Assist residents with the move to transitions, work verification, financial responsibility, etc.
Facilitate weekly individuals and groups as assigned
Coordinate with treatment team continued care
Developing recovery plans, coping methods, and rehabilitation strategies with the client.
Qualifications
Certified or Intern Status, or can qualify for Peer Support Specialist internship through the state board
Highschool Diploma or GED
Previous experience working with vulnerable populations preferred
HMIS Data Entry/ EHR experience
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Understands person centered practices.
Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook, MS Publisher, and Adobe Acrobat.
Crisis Intervention/ de-escalation
Excellent verbal, written interpersonal and organizational skills.
Respectful of cultural diversity
Networking skills
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, offering a competitive benefit package and paid vacation. Salary is commensurate with skills and experience.
