By Joe Tramonte

October 24, 2005 I was rescued from alcohol and being homeless. That was the beginning of a new Christian life for me. After 30 years of marriage my wife was taken from me to be with the Lord. The Las Vegas Rescue Mission and most important the good Lord took me, a raging alcoholic, and completely turned me around. I did manage to work and provide for my wife and son during my heavy drinking days.

I was accepted at the mission as a program potential then succeeded to enter the program. The mission provides all the tools we need to return to society as a true Christian and follower of our Lord. The Celebrate Recovery classes at the Mission lets each and everyone of us take an in-depth look into our hearts and souls.

Proverbs 19:21 says many are the plans in a mans heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

I have been in and out of Las Vegas for 10 years after the loss of my wife. My alcoholism took me from being a successful casino employee, to handing out smut on the strip. I stay very focused on my Lord and Savior knowing that one drink will devastate my life. The Lord has blessed me with a great job with Christians, benefits, and transportation.

Its been a rough road for 7 months, but I let go and let God! I put in the prayer requests for employment and continued sobriety on a Monday, and was hired full time on a Wednesday. The Lord is so powerful and true to us who diligently seek Him. We continue to serve others, if we have no love for others, we should question whether Christ is in our lives. My life is so wonderful now without alcohol because I sincerely surrendered to my Lord and Savior. Please give God a chance, look around and see what good works God does all the time. The Lord takes pleasure in his people.
